Hi. I have a question. I know very little about young men/boys as I only have a daughter. She has met this boy at a church function. He asked for her cell # and they have been in contact daily nonstop for a month. They recently went out (it was originally suppose to be a group) but wound up him & her and 2 last minute friends that she invited. They had fun. What I don’t understand is they contact constantly (I mean over 500 texts in 3 weeks) not to mention phone calls. But two days out of the week he doesn’t respond to her. That is my confusion. They are young teens and not old enough to date…….is this just a casual friendship, a getting to know you period? I like you, but not like you like you, or like you like you? What’s with the 2 day off 5 day on contact? For anyone who has young teen boys, what goes through their heads as far as girls? When they are at church functions they are always manage to find each other…..I’m a confused mom.

Ok, so i’m thinking about going to a Cupid Speed dating lock & key event here in Charlotte, NC. This is my first time ever doing something like this and I want to know what to expect? Even if you havent been to this specific event, but a speed date I want to know how it is. I’m not expecting to find anything, I’m actually just curious to see what one is like. Of course, if a spark flies I will go after it, I’m just not expecting one. Will there be more people like me there or will there actually be people there looking to fall in love? Are most of the people really desperate here?

A longtime family friend posed this question during discussion and I didn’t have a good answer for her. I place this question in Singles & Dating knowing full well that there are many Internet savvy people of all ages.

I recently turned 18 this october, but ive always been sensible and more mature than my age, (so please don’t under-mind me). But Ive never had a boyfriend before (friend w/ benefits before, but never a real bf). Anyways, I think that I fall pretty easy for those sweet talking guys. And out of the blue, random guys in my area have just been sending me messages. saying im beautiful and stuff. But this one guy really got my attention by how punctual he seemed and the way he carried himself….respectfully. Anyways, we’ve been talking to each other I think for about a month almost. We joke around and talk about everything. Hes even told me hes had many dates and has had sex with 2 girls (but he regrets it, and said sex was really overrated). He tells me Im beautiful and all these other romantic things that make me smile. Ive been pretty happy lately and I dont wanna give it up…..lol
Now I come to find, though, that hes been calling this other girl ‘baby’ and stuff also, over the internet. This has worried me.
I feel pretty foolish for even talking to him in the first place.
&& Im usually not one to ever go along with something such as ridiculous as online-dating.

I recently met and have fallen for a SEXY Mexican guy. I thought he was Italian or Puerto Rican. He’s very exotic looking. I’ve never dated a Mexican man before. He’s gorgeous. He reminds me of Derek Jeter (baseball player) I’m used to dating Italian, German, or Jewish Men who let me totally control them emotionally & sexually. Anyway, for some reason, he seems to be the boss. He will say I’m calling you this afternoon and it will be that nite. He will say I will come over at 7 and he calls me and is running late dealing with whatever & who knows. Its always something and I hate it but then its like when we are intimate I forget about it all. I hate this. Are Mexican men difficult to deal with dating wise?? Should I break it off with him? I don’t like someone controlling me. I want to end it because I need a submissive type. He is really quiet and doesn’t talk that much but its how he takes over my whole entire being without saying a word.

Ok so I have been hanging out with this girl off and on . And every time we go out she insists that I pay for everything. What..s up with that? I have no problem playing the nice guy role doing the whole wining and dining thing but for 4 months this girl always states that I am paying.
For example hey lets go to the movies sure but your paying. Hey lets go for a drink sure but your paying can I get an apple martini.
She gets no more dates from me. It may sound a little selfish but I mean we both have jobs common sense would tell this girl that I am not the type of guy that..s going to always pay. I am all about give & Take. I am far from a trick my grand mother used to call me a Jew. No offense to Jewish people on this site. It..s a black thang you wont understand.
Ladies please let me know what..s da deal with this?

Is there a glitch in Y/A? You see this occasionally – someone asks a question in the wrong category. Today it seems that 1/3 or even 1/2 of the questions in etiquette should be in singles & dating. This is not the norm here.
