I was married for 20 years and became widowed 4 year ago. I have not dated in 25 years. Dating and all these on line sites are all new to me. The other day I found an email on my boyfried’s computer responding to a message from another women. When I asked him about it he said he met her on this porn/dating site, which he is a paying member. He said he uses this site for entertainment purposes only and never intended to meet this women or any one else in person. I don’t mind him looking at these sites, (I don’t think it is any different than watched a porn dvd) but I am not comfortable with him contacting, emailing or IM, other women. I have talked to him about this and he assures me that there is nothing to worry about. He did go in and changed his profile to read that he is in a commited relationship and is only looking for online flirting. He thinks I am makeing to much of this. Am I behind the times? Is this an acceptable thing in today’s dating world?

Hallo!
I hope to get help form shy gusy and anyone else who knows how to help me.
So here is my story shortly…I met a very nice guy on a good dating site. We seem to be matching amaising when it comes to interest, values, life plans and views about life. We corresponded for 2 months and since recently are in a phase of talking on skype and chatting. We both enjoy talking to each other and our talks are usually really long ( 3-4 hours) without being bored or tired of each other. So shortly seems like we have amasing chemistry. So till now everything is perfect, but here comes my confuzion.
First of all, I wish he was more self initiative towards me. It was me who contacted him first, it was me who had to ask what his name was after 2 months of correspondance, it was me who suggested to move from correspondence to chatting, it was me who suggested to start calling each other when we were chatting for a while, it was me who asked if we could go on cam…He did react positively and willingly to all my suggestions, but seems like he never sugests the next step…Well ok, last time when we talked he mentioned that we need to meet in person, but he did not suggest anything exact. I really try to be patient…I waited for 2 months and corresponded with him long letters till I suggested chatting, etc.
He says he is shy, and I think that I can trust him that he is saying the truth. We talked 3-4 times, but he says that he is still nervous when we talk. He is also slowly opening up more and things seem to be fine but he is sooo SLOW in approaching me. LAst time we talked, he said things thed obviously showed that he is very very very interested/atracted to me (he finds me smart, beuatiful, funny, sexy, etc.)
Beside this, he is very busy right now, which is something I totally understand and can live with. However, when he does not send signes of life for 4-5 days because he is busy (and he works in front of his computer all day, so could send me an IM or a short email to tell me I am on his mind or whatever…) I start wondering if he is really interested in me. But then when he contacts me, he is cute and we have this great chemistry.
I really would need help about this guy. I really, really like him, but I do not want to be taking all intiatives. Is it due to his shyness that he is so slow? Or is it maybe possible that he is simplly not certan about me? How do shy guys act when they meet a woman they like? What can I do to help him feel more confortable, confident? He knows that I really like him, and I really try to send all smoke signals possible (well of course staying decent) to let him know that I am interested in him.
I sometimes think that I should tell him how I feel, that the speed of how things are developing is too slow for me, or that I would like him to show some initiative, and that I am confused by this time issue. Or should I try to be more patient? I ahve never dated a shy guy before. What do you think?
P.S. I do not know if this matters…we both live in Europe but in other countries.
